According to data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, pneumonia was the fourth leading cause of death in the Philippines in 2017. Pneumonia, which can affect anyone, often causes serious, prolonged health problems during and after the treatment period. The two age groups at the highest risk of infection are children 2 years old or younger, and people who are age 65 or older.

Pneumonia is an infection that inflames air sacs in one or both lungs, which, in turn, leads to the lungs filling with fluid. It’s usually a complication stemming from a respiratory infection, especially the flu, but there are more than 30 different causes of the illness. The most common symptoms of pneumonia are: cough (with some types of pneumonia people may cough up greenish or yellow mucus, or even bloody mucus), fever, which may be mild or high (as high as 105 degrees F), shaking and chills, and shortness of breath, which may only become evident when climbing stairs.

Care.Wallet will be able to help in controlling the problem with pneumonia treatment. Because it is potentially fatal for the aforementioned vulnerable subsets, pneumonia must be carefully monitored. Providers could easily share secured medical records by means of the Care.Wallet. Care.Wallet will enable patients and providers to make appointments and book rides to regular checkups to maintain good health. With How Are You Feeling Today (HAYFT) Care.Card, patients will be able to share their symptoms, health status, and stay connected with their care providers, doctors, and loved ones.

It’s very important for patients with pneumonia to have access to healthcare 24/7. The Global Telehealth Exchange provides such unfettered access. Doctors and care coordinators will be able to monitor a patient’s data in real-time, and, in just a few clicks, give recommendations, and write prescriptions, all of which are instantly received by the patient in their Care.Wallet.

Solve.Care is working on making healthcare more accessible than ever before.
